With a few exceptions, you will not be able to avoid transfers on your way from Prague to Nové Město nad Metují. You can use both train and bus connections or a combination of them. The best then is the direct bus route Prague - Nové Město nad Metují, which runs at 10:00 a.m. It is also pleasant to travel from Prague to Jaroměř by train, where you can change your seat to a bus, which will take you directly to Nové Město nad Metují.

Where do you look?
In the framework of the non-traditional interactive tour of the castle exterior, we will become acquainted with the work of an architect, and we will be able to try it out ourselves. A revived figure of Dušan Jurkovič, the designer of the latest reconstruction of the castle, will explain various construction procedures. We will then be able to put the newly acquired knowledge into practice – when creating our own design of the castle garden.
Dušan Jurkovič was a Slovak architect who connected Art Nouveau architecture with folk elements, creating an unmistakable, almost like a fairy-tale feeling style. He is considered the founder of modern Slovak architecture.
In addition to rebuilding the castle near Nové Město nad Metují, Jurkovič also designed Bartelmus Villa and Bartoň‘s Hut in Peklo (Hell), which still serves as a restaurant. Above the nearby city
Náchod, he built a tourist cottage with a viewpoint. The period when he designed in our region is, in his life, considered to be happy and successful.
