A revived figure of Dušan Jurkovič, the designer of the latest reconstruction of the castle, will explain various construction procedures. We will then be able to put the newly acquired knowledge into practice – when creating our own design of the castle garden.
Dušan Jurkovič was a Slovak architect who connected Art Nouveau architecture with folk elements, creating an unmistakable, almost like a fairy-tale feeling style. He is considered the founder of modern Slovak architecture.
In addition to rebuilding the castle near Nové Město nad Metují, Jurkovič also designed Bartelmus Villa and Bartoň‘s Hut in Peklo (Hell), which still serves as a restaurant. Above the nearby city
Náchod, he built a tourist cottage with a viewpoint. The period when he designed in our region is, in his life, considered to be happy and successful.
… for his inimitable style of creation and inspiration from folk construction, Jurkovič was known as a “wood poet“?
